Los vehículos de emisiones contaminantes reducidas van ganando terreno, y uno de los principales responsables es Lexus, empresa que viene haciendo un importante esfuerzo por alinear su catálogo con esta premisa y sigue agregando modelos como este CT200H, compacto coche equipado con motorización híbrida ecológica de origen japonés.

Destinado a competir en Europa con el BMW Serie 1, el Volvo C30 y el Audi A3, el Lexus CT200H responde a los lineamientos básicos planteados en el prototipo LF-CH que Lexus presentó durante el pasado Salón de Frankfurt, donde junto al Toyota Auris HSD se robó la atención del sector ecologista por completo.

El conjunto tecnológico híbrido del CT200H se denomina Lexus Hyper Drive y muestra un gran parecido con el equipamiento empleado en el Toyota Prius III. El CT200H utiliza un motor a gasolina 1.8 litros (cuatro cilindros, potencia no revelada) y un motor eléctrico que trabaja además de generador y puede ser el único propulsor del auto, anulando las emisiones contaminantes.

Lexus ha definido que este modelo utilice un sistema de transmisión automática cuyo nombre es E-CVT (Electronic Continous Variable Transmission, Transmisión Continua Variable Electrónica). El diseño implementado le da unas dimensiones finales de 4.32m x 1.76m x 1.43m, amplios espacios internos y comodidad para prácticamente cualquier familia.
